Local residents are invited to join millions around the world in turning off their lights Saturday at 8:30 p.m. for Earth Hour. The March 26 campaign – presented by World Wildlife Fund – was held in more than 4,000 cities last year in an effort to raise awareness around energy use and production.
For the second year in a row, a White Rock event celebrating Earth Hour is to be held at First United Church, 15342 Buena Vista Ave.
A candlelit potluck dinner is planned for 6:30 p.m., followed by live entertainment and a dance for all ages.
People are invited to bring their favourite dishes, a lantern or candles and their dancing shoes for an evening of fun that is to also include children’s activities and a lantern parade.
