Local groups benefit from gaming grants

White Rock’s Mann Park Lawn Bowling Club and the Peace Arch Chorus Sweet Adelines receive funding.

White Rock’s Mann Park Lawn Bowling Club and the Peace Arch Chorus Sweet Adelines are among groups to benefit from funding announced this month by the provincial government.

According to a news release, the lawn bowling club received $9,540, and the Sweet Adelines received $6,000.

The money came from the Community Gaming Grant Program. The grants are awarded under the arts and culture category of the program, which allows non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

Community Gaming Grants are also awarded in the categories of public safety, environment and human and social services.
