Registration is now open for the BC SPCA’s annual Paws for a Cause walk.

Set for Sept. 9 in 35 B.C. communities, including Surrey, the event is a fundraiser for the society, which provides emergency medical care and shelter for more than 32,000 animals across the province.

Organizers hope the 2012 event will generate $1 million for the cause. It’s described as a fun way “to get involved and make a huge impact in the lives of animals in need.”

Participants are encouraged to bring their four-legged friends along for the fun, and to collect pledges in the months leading up to the walk.

Online fundraising is already underway, and prizes are up for grabs, including for everyone who raises $500 in June.
