The second annual Pooch Parade on the Peninsula is set to hit White Rock beach later this month.

The event, which received special permission from the city to be held on the normally dog-free beach, will take place April 22 at 10 a.m. Proceeds from the event benefit the Rotary Club of White Rock and the Semiahmoo Animal League Inc. (SALI)

Among the activities planned for the event, in addition to the parade itself, are a photo contest and a dancing dog demonstration. In addition, police dogs will also be on-site.

About 300 dogs and their owners are expected to attend, according to event organizers Karen and Winston Conyers.

"This is a fun, family, community event," Winston said, adding that a fundraising goal of $10,000 has been set.

Those wishing to participate can register online at www.pponthep.ca Suggested donation is $20 per dog.
