The Scouts Canada flag will fly at White Rock city hall next week, in honour of Scout Week and the Feb. 22 birthday of Scouting founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell.
Council gave unanimous support to the request from the 10th White Rock Scout Group at its Feb. 6 meeting.
In making the written request, group commissioner Colleen Sove notes Scout Week has been celebrated in Canada for the past four decades, and is "a special month for Scouts of all ages worldwide."
Raising a Scouting flag "recognizes the efforts of so many young Scouts and thousands of dedicated adult volunteer leaders nationwide to build stronger youth and more sustainable, healthier communities," Sove writes.
Scout Week takes place Feb. 19-26.
