SENIORS SCENE: Day excursions, table tennis and dancing at Kent Street Centre

Congratulations to the Kent Street Seniors Society for a very successful Book Sale. Many quality books are still available for sale and will be in the lobby and library at the Centre for one more week, ending Friday, March 3. Drop in for a coffee and check out all the wonderful things you can do at Kent Street Activity Centre and buy yourself a book or two. Soft covers are only $1, hard covers $2.

• Learn more about mindfulness and introductory meditations in this workshop on Aging Mindfully. Generate an open-hearted, engaged, and life-affirming way of being that generates more ease, calm, well-being, and resilience. Held at Kent Street Activity Centre Wednesday, March 8, 10 a.m. to noon. • There are a couple of great day excursions coming up that still have space. On Thursday, March 9 ride in the comfort of the White Rock Recreation & Culture mini-bus to enjoy a day in Richmond. Explore the Olympic Oval and have lunch at the Flying Beaver. On Thursday, March 16 sit back and relax as our mini-bus takes you to enjoy the sounds of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Tea & Trumpets series - Scheherazade. • The table tennis activity group at Kent Street Activity Centre is always looking for new players to join them. With so many different times to play, including weekends, evenings and weekdays; there is no excuse that you can’t find something to fit your schedule. Not a Kent Street Activity Centre member? Come try out table tennis or any other activity group three times before becoming a paid member. Call 604-541-2231 for more information or drop into the Centre anytime to check out all the activities you can become involved in.

• No resident should be restricted from participating in a reasonable variety of recreation activities due to financial hardship. Recreation & Culture offers a Leisure Access Program that provides low-income residents with access to recreation programs and services. • If you enjoy dancing to live music with friends, visit the Kent Street Activity Centre every Wednesday from 7- 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door, cash only. March 1, enjoy music from Greg Hampson and March 8, Sweet Water. Singles and couples 50+ welcome.

• Volunteer drivers are needed to take seniors on day excursions this Spring and Summer. Enjoy free meals and admission to a variety of fun destinations and events. Class 2 or 4 driver’s licence required. Call 604-541-2231 for more information.
