SENIORS SCENE: Fresh & Lively Luncheons return to Kent Street Centre

Seniors fraud-awareness workshop set for June 22

Registration is open for all White Rock Recreation and Culture Programs starting this summer. This includes a variety of fun and active programs including Zumba Gold, Yoga for Seniors, summer day hikes and the ever-popular day excursions. Check out the summer recreation guide online and register at whiterockcity.ca/register. Registration is also over the phone at 604-541-2199 or in person at the Kent Street Activity Centre, White Rock Community Centre and the Centennial Leisure Centre.

• Sing Along has returned to the Kent Street Activity Centre every Tuesday from 2-3:30 p.m. in the auditorium. This friendly group welcomes everyone who enjoys singing in a casual, fun and non-intimidating atmosphere.

Not a member of the Kent Street Activity Centre? Try out any activity group, including Sing Along, three times before purchasing membership. For more information call 604-541-2199.

• The Kent Street Activity Centre and Brella Community Services Society are excited to welcome back Fresh & Lively Luncheons on Fridays at the Kent Street Activity Centre. These outreach luncheons offer isolated seniors the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch, great entertainment and newfound friendship. The next two luncheons will be on June 3 and 17. Pre-registration is required by calling 604-531-9400 ext. 201.

• Join longtime garden designer, forager and herbalist Teresa Klein to learn the basics for planting and care of an edible planter, plus she will introduce you to an array of flowers and plants easily found in both domestic and wild landscapes. Samples of these edible delights will be available for tasting. Call 604-541-2199 to sign up for this workshop on Friday, June 3, 10:30a.m. to noon at the Kent Street Activity Centre.

• Assess your driving skills and update your knowledge of vehicle safety features and road regulations at a Senior Driving Workshop co-sponsored with White Rock Community Policing, Friday, June 3 at the White Rock Community Centre. Call 604-541-2199 to sign up for this free workshop. Pre-registration is required.

• Learn how to protect yourself from the latest scams at a fraud- awareness workshop on Wednesday June 22, 10 a.m. at the White Rock Community Centre. This workshop is co-sponsored with White Rock Community Policing. To register call 604-541-2199.

• Drop down to Kent Street Activity Centre on Wednesday nights and dance to the fabulous sounds of a variety of live bands. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dancing from 7 - 9:30p.m. June 1 is the Alpiners and June 8 is Patrizia and Don.
