It’s nearly time for the White Rock waterfront to be transformed into a brilliant holiday display featuring thousands of twinkling lights.

Bright Walk in White Rock returns with a lighting ceremony event on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy live entertainment on stage, photos with Santa, a festive holiday market in the White Rock Museum, light-up robot and juggler performances, kids’ crafts, games, and more.

“I encourage people to come to White Rock to experience Bright Walk. Memorial Park will be lit up daily with over 50,000 lights,” said White Rock Mayor Megan Knight.

“Grab a warm drink, take a walk along our beautiful waterfront, and enjoy the holiday magic. It is a free event and will be a wonderful way to spend the afternoon or evening with family and friends.”

In addition to the many shining lights, the light-up wonderland at Memorial Park will also feature a 20-foot tree, an LED light tunnel, photo opportunities throughout the park including an eight-foot-tall selfie frame, and snowflakes.

Last year, approximately 1,200 people came out to the opening night; however, thousands more enjoyed the light display throughout the month of December.

“The Bright Walk Lighting Ceremony is such a fun event,” Knight said.

“The moment we light the park is really special. We also have a ton of entertainment and activities planned. Photos with Santa, live entertainers, a holiday market in the White Rock Museum, plus lots of programming for kids. I hope the whole community will come out to join us.”

Santa and a snow princess will be onsite from 4 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 to greet guests and pose for photos, and craft tables will be set up for kids to make a take-away craft.

Emcee Jack Frost will keep things moving smoothly at the event, where The Agency Singers will give three, 30-minute performances.

Before heading to check out the light display, guests can pick-up a scavenger hunt map to find and unscramble hidden letters throughout the park; guests can present their completed maps to claim their treasure.

While it’s a free event, Sources Food Bank and the Salvation Army will be on hand to accept donations and provide information about how to get involved in the community.

The park lighting with Mayor Megan Knight will take place at 4:30 p.m.

Bright Walk in White Rock will light up from dusk to dawn on weekdays and will be on all day weekends and holidays until Jan. 7, 2024.
