National Volunteer Week is here.

The special week runs from April 14 - 20 and is used by groups to both show appreciation to their volunteers and to reach out to appeal for new volunteers.

According to Volunteer Canada, the week offers a chance to “recognize and celebrate every volunteer and each contribution they’re making to strengthen inclusivity and wellbeing in our communities.”

This year’s theme is “Every Moment Matters” and the national organization is helping to highlight the importance of volunteers and the contributions they make at a critical time when, post-COVID, volunteerism has dipped.

“The sharing of time, skills, empathy, and creativity is vital to the inclusivity, strength, and wellbeing of our communities,” Volunteer Canada noted on its website.

“Volunteers are fundamental to meeting this challenging moment. By coming together, committing support, and increasing our collective efforts and impact, we contribute exponentially to the quality of life we all strive for.”

Since the beginning of COVID, it has been challenging recruiting volunteers and many have not returned to their volunteer roles after things got back to normal.

According to Volunteer Canada, Volunteers can help immensely whether they have one hour a week, one day a week, a few times per month, or several times per month—every little moment can help.

“During National Volunteer Week 2024, we come together to recognize and celebrate the importance of each and every volunteer’s impact from coast to coast to coast. Now more than ever, Every Moment Matters.”
