Gwenne Farrell received the Joe Morris Labour Community Service Award from the United Way of the Lower Mainland.

A White Rock social activist was recognized by the United Way of the Lower Mainland last week.

Gwenne Farrell received the Joe Morris Labour Community Service Award Dec. 4 for her “outstanding community service,” according to a news release.

Farrell, a long-time union activist, is vice-president of COPE Local 378 where she is “passionate about advocating for the health and safety of union workers.”

Farrell also sits on the United Way of the Lower Mainland’s Board of Directors and served four years as co-chair of United Way’s Campaign Labour Committee.
