White Rock’s tree lights up at Christmas on the Peninsula Festival Saturday

Parade, carolers, holiday market part of annual event’s activities

It was a cold, but dry Saturday (Nov. 25) for the annual Christmas on the Peninsula Festival in White Rock.

Now in its 15th year, the event featured a parade, musical performances, carolers in Victorian costumes and old-fashioned seasonal activities aimed at sparking the seasonal spirit in young and old alike, culminating with White Rock Mayor Megan Knight lighting the city’s Christmas tree in Miramar Village.

The one-day festival, founded by Liv Butow, featured events and activities throughout the day, from the White Rock RCMP’s 6th annual Children’s Clothing Drive and photos with Santa, holiday markets, crafts and cookie decorating at Clancy’s Tea Cosy and Surrey-White Rock MLA Trevor Halford’s office, festive carolers, children’s performances, a parade, roasted chestnuts, hot apple cider and much more.

There’s more holiday fun scheduled for this Saturday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Park, when the waterfront Bright Walk in White Rock light display, featuring more than 50,000 twinkling lights, will light up until Jan. 7, 2024.

Visit the city’s website for more details.
