Photojournalists’ work on display in Surrey

There are still a few days left to view the current display of photojournalism at Surrey Arts Centre.

Faces of the Community, running until Feb. 13, is an exhibition of photographs by Surrey-based photojournalists, telling stories about the people who live and work in Surrey and the surrounding region.

While documentary photography captures significant events, as well as moments from life, photojournalism is intended to present facts and elicit strong emotion, as well as illustrate a news story.

The best work illuminates an event so effectively, the image alone conveys the whole story.

Among local photojournalists whose work is featured in the show are Peace Arch News photographer Brian Giebelhaus, and sister paper The Surrey Leader’s Evan Seal and Boaz Joseph, as well as Sharon Doucette and Brian Howell.
