John Aldag leading in Cloverdale-Langley City

Liberal John Aldag jumped out to an early lead in the riding of Cloverdale-Langley City and held it for the entire night.

Although Canadian Press did not declare a winner, Aldag was leading by 1,372 votes as of 11:00 p.m. with 192 of 202 polls reporting.

Aldag was leading with 18,062 votes (39 %) over incumbent Conservative Tamara Jansen’s 16,690 votes (36 %).

The NDP’s Rajesh Jayaprakash has 9,338 votes (20.2 %), while People’s Party of Canada candidate Ian Kennedy had 2,227 votes (4.8 %).

The total vote count as of represented 46,317 votes in an electoral riding with 88,176 voters on the electoral list.

Mail-in ballots will not be counted until Tuesday at the earliest, so a winner may not be declared until Tuesday.
