Market Days is returning the third week of June.

Hosted by the Cloverdale Arts and Entertainment Association (CAEA), Cloverdale Market Days is set take over the downtown area once again June 22 for its second of five dates this year.

Paige Hardy, president of CAEA, said her first market of 2024 was well-attended and she expects to see even more people at the next one.

“This is super exciting as this will be our largest market to date with a record number of vendors,” Hardy revealed. “I think we have 140 signed up—hoping the weather cooperates and the community continues to show up to support our venture.”

Hardy said, as always, she has musicians lined up to entertain market-goers.

New for the June 22 market will be Canadian country recording artist Courtney Hunt.

“Courtney was the lead singer with Appaloosa for years and decided to set out on her own and so far has been hugely successful,” Hardy noted. “Last year she won the BCCMA's award for Emerging Artist of the Year.”

Hunt released her first single last year and it was top 40 on Sirius FM for many months.

“After Courtney, we have Jada Leroux. Jada joined us at our last market. She has such a unique sound and we are grateful to have her back.”

Hardy said Steve Halfnights will perform next to Mason's Cloverdale Home Furnishings. He's played many Market Days in the past and is popular with festival-goers.

“These guys are busy all summer performing at numerous breweries and restaurants throughout the lower mainland,” added Hardy. “We are lucky to have secured them to come entertain us.”

Hardy explained that as a not-for-profit association, CAEA is passionate about bringing in local artists and supporting a variety of arts. As such, they've hired some local thespians to entertain the crowds at their June market date.

“This upcoming market we will have the Re-enactors performing numerous scenes for us,” said Hardy. “They will be set up on 57th Avenue and chairs will be provided.”

Hardy urged those coming to Market Days to stop by the Re-enactors' little stage and learn about the history of Surrey as revealed and performed by characters from Surrey's past.

“They will be dressed in historical costumes and this is a fun way to learn about our fine city and how it developed.”

Hardy added the CAEA information booth will have specialized Market Days bags, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and long-sleeve shirts for sale, with 100 per cent of the proceeds being reinvested into the operations costs for the street fest.

Cloverdale Market Days can be found on both Instagram and Facebook.

Market Days runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on each festival day and is hosted in downtown Cloverdale on 176th Street between 56A Avenue and 58th Avenue. There are four market dates left for 2024: June 22, July 27, Aug. 24, and Sept. 21.
