Centre jumps into spring with annual plant sale

The annual Kent Street Plant Sale is only weeks away.

We encourage you to come out Saturday, April 30 and support this annual fundraiser being held between 9 a.m. and noon in the Kent Street auditorium.

Perhaps you have outdoor plants, seedlings, herbs or bulbs to donate? Please do so the day before, April 29, from 4-6 p.m.

The Car Trunk Sale at Kent Street is back.

On Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can have a garage sale right out of the back of your car, weather permitting.

Fill your trunk up with all your saleable treasures and purchase a seller’s stall for only $5. Profits are yours to keep. For more info, please call 604-541-2231

Come to a free BCAA Traffic Safety Mature Driver’s Workshop, presented by White Rock Community Policing at the White Rock Community Centre.

You will learn about changes that can interfere with one’s ability to drive safely, practical tips on vehicle safety and how to update your knowledge of road current regulations.

Upcoming dates include April 26 at 6:30 p.m., and May 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Come check it out for yourself. Sign up now for Monday morning lessons and learn to play the Chinese version at the Kent Street Activity Centre.

Once lessons are complete, you can apply what you have learned and join the drop in Mah Jong group. This friendly group meets Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Kent Street.

Join us in the Kent Street auditorium tonight for an evening of social dancing to the sounds of Good Vibrations.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with dancing to live music from 7:30 to 10:30. Tickets are available at the door.

The weather is warming up and it’s a perfect time to try Nordic walking.

Walking with specialized poles with a rubber tip reduces stress to hips, knees and ankle joints and improves stability, balance and posture while walking.

The technique is easy to learn, fun and suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Poles are provided.

This beginner’s program includes four lessons plus two weeks in the Nordic Walking Club along with your instructor.

Classes are held at Centennial Park beginning Tuesday, April 26 at 10 a.m.
