Spring into Camp A

From snow, to rain to hail to sunshine – it must be March. And that means spring is right around the corner, and spring break will be here in no time.

Alex House is offering two spring-break day camps.

Our two-week leadership camp will provide youth in Grades 8-12 with the skills and experience required for camp leadership. Week one will focus on building leadership skills while having fun with other youth, and week two will be an opportunity to lead camp activities during our elementary day camp. March 21 till April 1, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., plus campfire nights.

Our five-day elementary day camp for kids in Grades 1-7 will offer a fun sneak-peak of this year’s summer day camp themes. Camp runs March 28 till April 1, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, plus a special family campfire supper on Wednesday night.

Cost for both camps is $50/week and campers must bring their own lunch. Contact Daylene at 604-538-5060, ext.25 for more info or email dmarshall@alexhouse.net

n For more than 100 years, Alexandra Neighbourhood House has welcomed families, children, seniors, newcomers, campers, supported adults, recreational groups and rental groups to historic Camp Alexandra.

People find support and friendship, share common interests and skills, and celebrate community.

Despite aging buildings in constant need of upgrading and improvement, Alex House continues to provide opportunities for people to gather, grow and build a spirit of community. You can support your Neighbourhood House by enjoying a fun evening of food, wine and fools at the Rotary Cub of White Rock Millenium Fools Night Out Fundraiser April 1, 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds go towards building restoration at Alex House’s historic site and tickets are available at the camp office, or by calling 604-536-4466.

n Join us Wednesdays 12-2 p.m. for a three-course meal and the opportunity to get out and meet your neighbours.

On the first and third Wednesdays of the month, we celebrate with music after lunch.

Call 604-535-0015 if you’d like to join us for lunch. Cost is $6 and rides are available for people living in Crescent Beach/Ocean Park.

n It’s back – our supported adults social night runs Wednesday nights in the Games Room, 6-8 p.m.

Bring your caregiver, friends and neighbours.

On March 23, we offer Fancy some France. And on March 30, it’s Italian Eatery.

Drop-in fee is $3.
