The women's race whips around the corner by Gassy Jack's statue

VIDEO: Gastown Grand Prix, Gassy Jack, and another sunny summer day in Vancouver

Ken Hanson and Leah Kirchmann won the men's and women's Grand Prix races for 2013. The Gastown GP first started in 1973.

The Gastown Grand Prix is impressive.

It’s hard to hide your excitement for a two-part, all-day-and-night race that whips around the most famous corners and sections of Vancouver’s oldest – and most beautiful – neighbourhood. Gassy Jack looks on, the Steam Clock has a fit to mark the arrival of every hour and, on a perfectly sunny day like Wednesday, the streets are filled with thousands who are enjoying life and lapping up every inch of summer.

Congratulations to Grand Prix winners, Ken Hanson on the men’s side and Leah Kirchmann on the women’s, who join a long line of winners dating back to the event’s inception in 1973.
