Shots were fired in a residential neighbourhood in South Surrey early Thursday morning, with no injuries reported to police.

Surrey RCMP said officers responded to reports of shots fired in the Sunnyside area of South Surrey near 28 Avenue and 154 Street, at about 1:20 a.m.

Police confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the shots fired, but the investigation is ongoing.

“Police remained in the area, examining the scene, speaking with witnesses and canvassing the neighbourhood for CCTV footage,” a release from media relations Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha states.

RCMP go on to say that it seems to be an isolated incident and are still working to determine the motivation behind it.

While online comments on social media suggested the incident was linked to another case, police declined to comment further at this time, but acknowledged they had seen the online conversation.

Individuals who may have information, CCTV or dash camera footage are being asked to contact Surrey RCMP by calling 604-599-0502 and quoting file number 2024-15076.
