A Surrey licenced practical nurse (LPN) has been disciplined in relation to “practice issues” that occurred between November 12, 2021 and July 17, 2022.
The British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) stated in a public notice Friday (March. 8) that Harveer Rai, in one instance, sat alone in a resident’s room “in excess of three hours, and leaving all residents under her care unattended while in the resident’s room.” She also made misrepresentations in her documentation and was not honest with her employer.
Rai voluntarily agreed to the terms the BCCNM inquiry committee set Friday (March 8), which include:
Rai’s nursing registration will be suspended for five weeks; for the next six months she is prohibited from working a night shift, orienting new staff, supervising staff or working with students in a mentoring role; she must also take corrective education in documentation, ethics, responsibility and accountability; develop a learning plan; and meet with a regulatory practice consultant.
