White Rock company warms hearts and heats a home for a deserving family

Over the course of the last year, community has come to mean even more to many of us. It’s always been something we value, but the past year has shown us how much we need to pull together in the tough times and celebrate the good that we see in others.

Over the course of the last year, community has come to mean even more to many of us. It’s always been something we value, but the past year has shown us how much we need to pull together in the tough times and celebrate the good that we see in others.

Finding ways to give back is important, and for the folks at Hilltop Plumbing & Heating Ltd., it’s second nature.

Having served the White Rock/South Surrey area for almost 50 years, they know the community well, and know that it has a great heart.

“Stepping up to help each other is just what we do here,” notes David Sexsmith, community relations coordinator at Hilltop Plumbing & Heating Ltd.

A warmth from within

In the spirit of helping in the community through the pandemic, last year the Hilltop team launched a new initiative to help a local family that had been particularly hard hit by changes in economic circumstances due to the pandemic.

They approached some of their suppliers to see if they could strike a deal to help out by providing a new furnace. Independent Supply Company came through, donating a RUUD furnace. Equipco was also happy to help and donated a brand new Bradford White gas water heater. The team at Hilltop did what they do best – they looked after the installation by donating their time, and a deserving local family received an efficient new furnace and water heater — a value of approximately $9,000!

Turning on the heat is something we take for granted when it gets colder, and dealing with a broken or irreparable furnace or hot water tank is a pain, but it’s not something that can wait — it’s a necessity!

No one wants to be in a position where they have to decide between heat and paying other bills so this year, Hilltop is bringing back the initiative — and before they could even ask, Independent Supply Company had offered a furnace for this year too! Equipco has also committed to supplying a water heater again!

Spirit of local community spreads far and wide

“The relationship we have with our supply community is a direct reflection of the relationship we have with our immediate community,” Sexsmith says. “It’s all about building community support with those we live with in White Rock and those we work with to provide our services.”

If you know someone who could benefit from this amazing offer, please share their story by submitting an application at info@hilltopplumbing.com.
