Surrey RCMP on the hunt for a suspect in several vehicle break-and-enters had a little help finding their man Monday morning – when the suspect himself flagged down a police vehicle.

Police say a dog team called to assist in the search arrested a man near 140 Street and Crescent Road around 1 a.m., after a pedestrian waved over a police vehicle. Several items determined taken from vehicles in the area of 33 Street and 143A Street were found on the pedestrian, police say.

Investigators say it is unclear why the man waved police over. He is described as a chronic offender.

Charges of possession of stolen property and breach of conditions have been recommended against a 22-year-old White Rock man in connection with the break-and-enters.
