Surrey RCMP blocked northbound traffic on 152 Street between King George Boulevard and 24 Avenue Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision.

Cpl. Scotty Schumann said the crash occurred around 2 p.m., when a southbound vehicle driven by an elderly woman veered into oncoming traffic.

“Investigators believe she may have suffered some sort of medical episode, causing her car to lose control and jump the median, striking a northbound car,” Schumann told Peace Arch News.

Schumann said both drivers involved – the second was a woman in her thirties – were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles sustained front-end damage; one came to rest facing southbound in the northbound curb lane. The road remained closed to northbound traffic for more than an hour.
