The sentencing hearing for a White Rock man who pleaded guilty to trafficking marijuana while on duty as a Vancouver police officer is expected to wrap up in Vancouver Provincial Court July 26.
Testimony regarding Peter Hodson has been heard from various experts since the hearing got underway last month.
Hodson pleaded guilty to the trafficking charge – along with two counts of breach of trust – last November, eight months after he was arrested at Vancouver Police Department's Cambie Street headquarters.
His arrest, and subsequent firing, followed a two-month investigation into allegations that a constable was selling street-level amounts of marijuana both on- and off-duty.
While Crown Joe Bellows is arguing for a minimum three-year jail term, Hodson's lawyer, Vincent Michaels, is pushing for a "lengthy" conditional sentence, to be served in the community.
