Halloween shenanigans kept RCMP in Surrey and White Rock hopping, with both detachments reporting an increase in calls for service over 2013.

In Surrey, police responded to more than 550 calls, a 25 per cent increase over last year. One-third of those calls were fireworks-related, resulting in the seizure of thousands of the illegal pyrotechnics.

Fireworks were also an issue in White Rock, comprising approximately half of all incidents dealt with that night.

Const. Shaileshni Molison said officers were dealing with about 75 per cent more calls than in 2013.
