The sentencing hearing of a man who pleaded guilty to driving the car that struck and killed White Rock pedestrian Marilyn Laursen gets underway this afternoon.

The sentencing hearing for the driver who pleaded guilty to multiple charges in connection with a May 18, 2011 hit-and-run death in White Rock is set for this afternoon (Thursday) in Surrey Provincial Court.

Kyle Brandon Danyliuk, 20, was arrested two months after the crash that killed 56-year-old Marilyn Laursen as she crossed Johnston Road at Thrift Avenue.

His lawyer, Isaac Ferbey, told Peace Arch News in February that the hearing would shed more light on what transpired.

The newest information regarding the case was disclosed last month, when criminal charges against a White Rock RCMP officer were announced.

Const. David Bickle is next due in court on Oct. 23
