Man airlifted after falling off roof in South Surrey

A homeowner was airlifted from Ecole Crescent Park School Monday afternoon.

A 64-year-old South Surrey man was airlifted to hospital Monday afternoon after falling two stories off the roof of his house and suffering a head injury.

The accident occurred in the 12600-block of 23 Avenue around 4 p.m.

A Surrey RCMP report said the injured homeowner was conscious and alert after the fall, despite suffering lacerations to the back of his head.

The victim was transported to the nearby Ecole Crescent Park School at 24 Avenue and 128 Street for pickup by a BC Ambulance helicopter.

The aircraft took off from the playground of the school shortly around 5 p.m. and flew the patient to Vancouver General Hospital.

As of Tuesday, the man was listed in serious condition by the BC Ambulance Service.

One firefighter who was called to the scene Monday said the man’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, but as a precaution he was being transported to hospital for an emergency exam.
