Surrey RCMP investigate a home invasion on Monday.

A Surrey woman is physically unharmed, but emotionally shaken, after a brazen daylight home invasion in North Surrey.

At about 12:15 p.m. Monday, a group of five to seven masked thugs broke into the home of a 36-year-old woman in the 12600-block of 91 Avenue.

She was at the door as they entered.

"A couple of them sit her down and keep watch over her, while the rest of the gang rummages through the house," said RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann.

The group managed to steal some cash.

During this time, the downstairs tenant came home, scaring off the attackers.

RCMP arrived along with Police Dog Services, which tracked the group out the back door to a point where the scent came to an abrupt ending, Schumann said, indicating they probably took off in a car.

Police are asking for anyone who noticed anything unusual in that area at about noon on Monday to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
