A 56-year-old South Surrey man is in critical condition after a motorcycle crash near the Surrey and White Rock border Wednesday evening.
Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said the man was travelling on 16 Avenue (North Bluff Road) when he rear-ended a vehicle near the 148 Street (Oxford Street) intersection, “and he went flying from that.”
Air ambulance was called to the scene and the man was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital.
According to a witness on scene, police, paramedics and firefighters arrived just before 5 p.m. and found the motorcycle rider unconscious and unresponsive.
Another vehicle was stopped at the scene but did not have visible damage, according to a witness.
Police were on scene most of the evening.
“It’s kind of an odd one,” Schumann said. “There’s no reason for this guy to have rear-ended the other car. It’s kind of a mystery, but I guess the investigation will play that out in some point.”
