A 23-year-old man arrested in Ontario has now been charged in connection to a February 2022 homicide in Surrey’s Fraser Heights neighbourhood.
Near 168 Street and 104 Avenue, two people were found in a vehicle suffering from gun-shot wounds. Jasmine Lindstrom, 20, survived, but Juvraj Jabal, 24, later died of injuries.
Police believe the shooting is connected to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
Through “extensive video canvassing,” investigators have determined the shooting happened in the 10200-block of 170A Street, near Bothwell Elementary School and daycare.
Investigators with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) identified Yusuf Kontos as a suspect in the homicide. Police believe he was staying in Delta at the time.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, Kontos was arrested in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and charged with one count of first-degree murder for the homicide of Jabal and one count of attempted murder in relation to Lindstrom.
This was a two-year long investigation, in which we utilized every tool at our disposal to locate Kontos,
