CLOVERDALE — Police say a rottweiler has been put down after attacking a little girl and two men in Surrey over the weekend.
Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann said a four-year-old girl was bit around 6 p.m. on Saturday in a back alley near 58th Avenue and 168th Street.
“Another man came out to help her and ended up getting bit,” he said, “and then another man came out to help the man, and he ended up getting bit.”
The second and third attack happened close by, in the 16700-block of 58B Avenue, Schumann added.
The dog’s owner, or someone who knew the dog, then secured the dog, police say.
The girl and first man were taken to hospital, Schumann noted, but added that neither of them had life-threatening injuries.
“His legs and arms were bit,” Schumann said.
The dog was put down the following day, on June 4.
Schumann said it appears the dog got out of a backyard and police will be investigating.
“We’ll be looking to see if there was any negligence in terms of the dog owner not having the dog secured.”
