A 50-year-old man is facing charges following a domestic dispute that ended with his 22-year-old son stabbed in the back.

Police were called to assist B.C. Ambulance Service crews around 8 p.m. Thursday, after a stabbing was reported at a home in the 17300-block of 3 Avenue.

Police say alcohol likely fueled the dispute.

One witness counted four patrol cars on the scene; police took one man into custody.

The younger man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released shortly after, police say.

Charges of assault with a weapon have been recommended.

The investigation is ongoing.
