Shoppers with nefarious intent did significant damage to a pair of South Surrey businesses this week.
According to an Instagram post by officials with Howard Clothing Co., the 112-15850 26 Ave. store was broken into early Thursday morning (Dec. 2).
“Looks like a car backed into the shop ripping the doors and security gate clean off,” the post states. “A number of items were taken.”
Coastal Riders, at 40-2443 161A St., was also hit.
Surrey RCMP Const. Sarbjit Sangha confirmed both incidents occurred between 2 and 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 2.
“In both incidents a vehicle was used to break the business door and clothing and other items were stolen,” Sangha said.
“This incident is very alarming as it has not only caused financial damages but the force used to gain entry to the two businesses is very concerning.”
Coastal Riders also shared word of their damage on Instagram, noting those responsible “grabbed what they could in the time they had.”
“Its been a long day for us and we just wanted to share this information with you and ask for your patience during this time,” the post states.
Howard Clothing Co. also remains open for business, “and will continue to be open despite this setback.”
Both businesses appealed for patience during the repairs.
Sangha said investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information that could help police identify and locate those responsible is asked to call the Surrey detachment at 604-599-0502.
