Two people were arrested in South Surrey this morning after walking into Canada illegally.
According to Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann, police were alerted to the breach at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday by officers with the U.S. Border Patrol.
The man and woman had crossed in the 18400-block of 0 Avenue, Schumann said, describing the area as farmland.
"Our patrol officers arrested them there for illegally entering the country."
The pair were turned over to Canada Border Services Agency, which "investigates all matters pertaining to illegal entry into the country."
