A van crashed into a Surrey elementary school Wednesday, hitting a 10-year-old and others.

Two children were taken to hospital by ambulance, but are expected to be fine after the van hit George Greenaway Elementary School in Cloverdale.

At about 12:30 p.m., a 71-year-old woman driving a minivan smashed into the school near 61A Avenue and 172 Street, striking some children.

The woman's foot accidentally slipped onto the gas, police say.

One child suffered a concussion, while another had only minor injuries.

Any of the people who were struck were examined by paramedics.

In addition, the integrity of the building is in question, and fire crews were determining whether the building is safe to be inside.
