Distracted and uninsured drivers were among those cited by White Rock RCMP last weekend, during the kick-off to their annual Christmas CounterAttack.
For the Dec. 3 launch, officers set up roadblocks on Marine Drive and Johnston Road to check for impaired drivers.
According to Const. Chantal Sears, police arrested one person for possession of a controlled substance that night; "numerous" citations were issued for offences including failing to display an 'N', texting while driving and failing to produce a driver's licence.
On a positive note, designated drivers were also out in force, Sears said.
She reminded anyone with plans for a night out to also plan ahead for a safe ride home.

According to ICBC, impaired driving kills an average of 66 people in B.C. every year; of those deaths, an average of 16 occur in the Lower Mainland.
Police across the province will be conducting CounterAttack road checks throughout December in an effort to reduce the carnage.
Penalties for impaired or suspected impaired driving range from a 24-hour driving prohibition to criminal charges.
