October 17, 1927 - May 16, 2019
We announce the peaceful passing of Anne Whitby in her 92nd year. Anne lived her life with a strong sense of honesty, respect, generosity and love of her family and friends and we are grateful for the long life we shared with her.
Anne is lovingly remembered by her daughter Gwynne Whitby-Thomas, and son Ed Whitby (Shirley).
Treasuring their "Nana" memories are her granddaughter Stacy Delpierre-Thomas (Tony Delpierre) and great grandchildren Alyshia, Max, and Nikki.
She is also fondly remembered by her Thomas and Whitby nieces and nephews.
Mom is predeceased by her "prince charming" Ken (2013), her father Dr. Christmas Thomas and brothers David (Sandra) and Darrach.
Anne was born in Auckland New Zealand, moved to Suva Fiji and finally to the city she always called home, Halifax Nova Scotia. As an adult and wife of an airman, Anne live in many places including England, Goose Bay NL, Halifax NS, southern Quebec and southern Ontario.
After Ken retired, they spent many years in Burlington but eventually moved to the west coast to be closer to Gwynne and Ed. While travelling the world Anne developed a love of many creative talents including needlepoint, quilting and acquiring an extensive Christmas decorations collection.
The team of care givers at Evergreen Baptist Care Home have been outstanding contributors to Anne's quality of life over the last six years. The heart and caring you shared every day is appreciated by all of us.
There will be a celebration of Mom's life to be held at Evergreen Baptist Chapel in White Rock, 1550 Oxford St, White Rock, BCV4B 3R5, on June 15th, 2019 at 2 pm.
