October 10, 2020

October 10, 2020
Passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020, at the age of 94.
Born in Calgary Alberta, Barbara spent most of her early life there and in Lethbridge, Alberta where she met and married Jim Hines in 1947.
Barbara and Jim were married 58 years until his passing in 2005. Barbara was a great support and partner to Jim through many job transfers across Canada as he pursued his career with the International Harvester Company.
After settling in South Surrey in 1985 Barbara and Jim pursued their passion for golf, socialized with other Harvester retirees and were active around their condominium.
Both shared a love of baseball and were devoted Blue Jays fans. In 1989 they travelled to Europe to participate in D-Day 45th Anniversary celebrations.
Later, Barbara made a trip on her own to Ireland, fulfilling a dream they had shared. Barbara was a lover of classical music and kept herself informed by listening to CBC Radio. For many years CBC hosts Peter Gzowski, Clyde Gilmour and Bob Kerr provided the soundtrack to her day.
She also was an avid reader. Barbara loved dogs and all dogs loved her, there was always a stash of dog treats tucked away in her jacket pocket.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, Kathy, Brad and Ted. She will be dearly missed by friends and family.
The family expresses appreciation to nurse Dawn Livingstone for the care she provided Barbara in recent years. Barbara always spoke fondly of Dawn.
A private family memorial will be held in 2021.
And to end:
