March 20, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, who quietly went to rest on March 20, 2022.
He leaves behind, his beloved wife of 62 years Linda, two sons Craig and Ross, and daughter Jane. He will be missed by brothers Rob, Dean, and Harley and Sisters Diane and Leagh. Barrie will also be missed by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all family and friends.
He was born in the small town of Wadina Saskatchewan in 1937. His family moved to Nelson in 1950 and Barrie graduated in 1953. He worked at the bank for a few years and met his future wife Linda, and married her.
After moving around a bit, they bought their first home and settled in White Rock BC. He landed a government job working for Immigration Canada, where he worked for over 25 years. He retired as a Senior Immigration Officer. He retired and spent his remaining years in North Bend BC
Dad loved playing his guitar and singing....for sure his biggest passion. He would entertain and play for all ages, at any sing songs, on any occasion. Whether it was a Birthday, wedding, family gathering, happy hour, around the campfire, or any special event...he would play with open arms...he had hundreds of songs in his arsenal and could sing a variety of music. Country music was his passion and the old school rock and roll. Elvis would have been proud.
He loved playing hockey, and cheered for the Detroit Red Wings. Other activities Dad enjoyed are camping, crabbing, fishing, horseshoes, all sports, refereeing, gardening, woodworking, making beer and wine, happy hours. and helping others.
Dad was a kind and gentle person with a great sense of humour. He was always the person who would be there to give a helping hand when needed. He was blessed to have a close circle of friends and family that he loved and enjoyed spending time with.
At Dad's request there will be no service. There will be a small family and friends gathering at a later date to lift a glass or two in celebration of his life.
REST IN PEACE DAD, we all love you, and we will see you again one day.
