It is with great sadness that the family of Bryan Philip Jakeman announces his passing after a long and courageous battle with Early Onset Familial Alzheimer Disease, at the young age of 62. Bryan embodied a true gentleman. He was gracious, kind, and the first to offer a helping hand - always choosing to show love regardless of the situation. He sought to build genuine relationships with everyone he met, whether that was at church, playing sports, or in his business endeavours. An athlete since his early years, Bryan found true joy in playing and coaching; soccer, basketball and cycling were just a few of his passions. His leadership also translated to his profound and unconditional faith and the countless ways he served his local church. It is because of his faith that we believe he is now free of the bondage of his disease, fully restored and renewed, and safe in the arms of his Saviour.
Bryan will be lovingly and forever remembered by his devoted wife and best friend of 38 years, Carolann, as well as his children Sam, Courtney (Micah), Micaela, and his granddaughter, Reese. Plus a large community of friends and family whose lives he touched deeply.
For those who wish, donations can be made in memory of Bryan to either the Irene Thomas Hospice at https://deltahospice.org/donation-options/ or to UBC Clinic for Alzheimer's Disease by contacting John.Andru@vghfoundation.ca stating their specific wish that their funds be directed to Alzheimer Disease Research.
A celebration of Bryan's life will be held in September, details to follow.
