SLEIGH, Cicely Catherine

(nee Adams)

Dec. 12, 1917 - Nov. 8, 2013

Born at Swift Current, Saskatchewan, to parents Ted and Gertie Adams, Cathy lived on the family wheat farm, then travelled with her family to Texas, (sister Winnie born there), Florida and Indiana for her father's work. They returned to the Prairies for farming. Cathy's big trip to England, Ceylon, the Orient and to Vancouver through 2 ½ years was a wonderful experience. She earned her RN graduation from Vancouver General Hospital in 1943, married Fred Sleigh, had two children, Geraldine and Ted, and enjoyed family RV holidays for many years in BC and the USA. Mom and Dad retired from Sleigh Jewellers, Vancouver, to South Surrey and enjoyed White Rock beach walks, golf and travel. After Dad died in 1993, Mom went out almost daily for coffee, lunch, a walk and met many wonderful people, including shopkeepers. She enjoyed friends at Cranley Place for almost 45 years. Daily phone calls with sister Winnie in the USA, kept Mom going too. She lived in two care facilities at White Rock, then one year at Nelson, closer to part of her family. An Anglican memorial service at Salmo, BC was on Nov. 20/13. Our feisty, spirited Mom leaves us with good memories. Our family: Geraldine (Larry) Dzuris and Ted (Judy) Sleigh and grandchildren Janna and Perry Dzuris, Dana (Deren) and Tara (Shaun) Sleigh, USA nieces Valerie, Leslie, Janice and Denise (Rider) and families, and BC nephews Ken, Fred, Rob Lehman and families.

Thank you to White Rock for making our parents' retirement years interesting, happy and healthy. Have a great Heaven, Mom! Condolences may be sent to: www.thompsonfs.ca
