Jan 8, 1931 - Apr 10, 2018
Passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018 at the Peace Arch Hospital after a brief illness. Jim was born January 8, 1931, in Isabella, Manitoba, on the farm homesteaded by his family in 1882.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Coral, and his sons and their families: James (Kelowna BC); Bruce, Gail, Colin and Danny (Montreal PQ); Allan, Marlene and Bridget (Delta, BC); Sandra and Ian (Winnipeg MB).  Jim was predeceased by his son, Dean, and his brother, Murray in 2017.

Jim graduated from the University of Manitoba in Soil Sciences in 1954. He stayed in touch, over many years, with his fellow Aggies by attending reunions held across western Canada.

Jim spent his working career as a purchasing agent in the oil industry. He retired in 1995 from Suncor Energy, Fort McMurray AB. Jim spent many enjoyable hours ferrying his sons to hockey and lacrosse practices and games.

He was an avid curler, competing in many bonspiels and provincial playdowns. When moving to a new city the local curling rink was one of his first stops.

In retirement, Jim & Coral renovated the Manitoba farm house, enjoyed gardening and renewing friendships with Manitoba relatives and friends.

In 2003, they moved to Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island and in 2012 to the Peninsula Retirement Home, Surrey BC, to be closer to family. They enjoyed exploring beautiful BC and making lots of new friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peace Arch hospital, 2nd floor surgical ward for the excellent care Jim received.

A farewell tribute to Jim will be held at Peninsula Retirement Home, 2088 - 152 Street, in Surrey BC on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2:30 pm.

Cremation has taken place.

Interment at Evergreen Funeral Home, Edmonton AB will take place at a later date.

Donations may be made in Jim's name to the BC Cancer Agency or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. For online condolences please visit www.valleyviewsurrey.ca.
