May 29, 1931 - December 14, 2022
Donald L. Taylor was born May 29, 1931 in Edmonton Alberta and passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022 at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving wife Mavis, son Lloyd, daughter Ann (Ken), granddaughters Samantha (Adam) and Laura (Conrad) and great-granddaughter Emily.
Don was loved and will be missed by those who knew him. He was a teacher in the Cowichan Valley and served as an MP for the Progressive Conservative Party. His influence and inspiration span further than he knew and the lessons he taught will forever live on. Don travelled the world with his family, spending a year teaching in England with Mavis, exposing his children to the three C's of Europe, Churches, Cathedrals and Castles. Having his family see the world and learn about different cultures was a value deeply engrained in him.
Upon retiring from teaching Don and Mavis travelled the world from Europe to Asia. His memories fill photo albums and the hearts of those who heard of his travels. In his spare time, if not supporting Mavis in her flower arranging and lawn bowling, Don loved to watch sports on mute and listen to Jazz. Music and laughter often filled their home. Despite travelling the world, what he loved most was to see his family grow and thrive. He watched his children have their own families and adventures, his grand daughters start families and saw his great-granddaughter compete in gymnastics.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
