Donna Ann (née Ostrander)


Died August 7th, 2016 at Normanna Care Home in Burnaby, age 85. Born October 26, 1930 to Thomas & Marion Ostrander of Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, the 6th of 11 children, Donna grew up on a farm near a small town called Riverhurst, on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. She graduated from Moose Jaw Business College in 1962. In 1968 she married Joe Ramsay of Edmonton. She lived in several places in BC including Victoria, Lions Bay, and finally South Surrey/White Rock. Donna was a very cheerful and sociable person with many friends and admirers. She was always quick to lend a hand and help out. An energetic person and avid walker, she was an active member of the legion branch in White Rock. As well, Donna was an excellent cribbage player, organizing events and regularly winning tournaments. She loved to travel and did so extensively throughout Mexico and the southern US with husband Joe, and for many years regularly drove her motor home south to Arizona for the winter.


She is survived by her daughter, Carol Caruso of Whitby Ontario (Elius Caruso), her grandchildren Evan and Rachael, 3 siblings: Blanche Sheridan of Saskatoon SK, Nelson Ostrander of Lucky Lake SK, Wayne Ostrander of Saskatoon SK, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Sandra Svatos, Todd Tavender, and Brendan Ostrander. She was predeceased by her sisters Bessie Ostrander, Mona Tavender, Dorothy Baumbach, and Verna Svatos, and her brothers Gordon Ostrander, Clarence Ostrander, Jerry Ostrander. Her ashes will be interred in the fall at the family plot near Lucky Lake Saskatchewan.
