He was a loving husband, father and grandpa, a trusted friend and a great leader and businessman.
He will be dearly missed and forever loved by his wife Alice, daughters Celeste Evancio, Laura (Gordon Daines), and his grandsons Lucas and Zachary.
His sister Vic (Terry Chaikowsky) and their daughters Renea (Darren Sharp) and Corinne (Ryan Palka). He was predeceased by his parents William and Lena Evancio.
Ed had a full and successful life. He was passionate about his family, his career, political and global affairs and his Board positions. He travelled to over 37 countries on business and was hosted by business associates, dignitaries and diplomats from around the world.
Ed did not believe in being idle, he was up before the sunrise reading numerous newspapers before heading off to the airport or a day full of meetings. No matter how busy Ed was or where he was in the world, he always put his family first. If one of his daughters called he would always take their calls and drop whatever he was doing if they needed him.
He never missed a special family event, his eldest daughter's basketball game, often rescheduling flights to come home early to be with them. Ed often returned back to his hometown to help his parents on their farm and visit with them.
When Ed was not travelling, he and Alice were always entertaining friends, family, business associates or foreign dignitaries. Their dinner parties were looked forward to by everyone. His favorite of all was the annual Grey Cup party.
Ed was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan; moved to Regina where he completed a Bachelor's Degree in Education, a Bachelor of Arts Degree plus a Masters in
Administration. He had a successful career with the Federal Government of Canada, held senior positions within the Government of Saskatchewan and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary.
He was a leader in bringing businesses and governments together to promote education, employment, training and development nationally and globally.
After Ed and Alice retired to British Columbia, he served on several national and local Boards, they continued to travel the world, and golf with friends and family. They loved spending the winter golfing in La Quinta, California, where their friends and family would join them. He cherished the time he spent with his grandsons, passing on his passion for golf by spending hours at the driving range with them.
Ed was a loving and generous man,who succeeded in everything he did and he inspired people to do better. He adored his family, especially his grandsons. His smile, laughter, and kindness will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
