Eleanore Loraine Mast

(nee Nordstrand) born March 12, 1937 - March 1, 2009

After a long and hard fought battle and much pain she passed away at the Palliative Care Ward of Peace Arch Hospital with her husband William (Bill) by her side. She is predeceased by her young son Trevor Glen Robson in 1968, her parents Peter in 1990 and Paula in 1993 and her older brothers Norman and Paul. Survived by her husband Bill, her children Mark Robson, Holly McNicol (John), Jennifer Maudsley (Mark), grandchildren Amanda, Cameron, Carson and Connor and great-granddaughter Tienna. Also survived by her brothers Ken and Allan and many dear friends.

Eleanore was a strong woman. She was quick witted, funny and spoke her mind. She was a single parent when there was no such term. Eleanore graduated from regular high-school at 31 years old when there was no such thing as adult education. She owned a health food restaurant before they were fashionable. Eleanore was fierce and loving. She would stand up for what she thought was right. She did foster care for many children and teens over many years. She loved family and family always included pets of all varieties. She fostered and rescued several pets over the years as well. She enjoyed all types of art and dabbled for pleasure always presuming it was not "real art" because she was not an artist. She learned to knit at 67. She was often stifled by anxiety due to a difficult upbringing and first marriage but she found a safe, caring home with Bill.

To sum up a life time in one small ad does no justice but if you knew mom you will understand how inadequate these words are. She is missed. Till we meet again.

Service will be Monday March 9, at 1:00 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church at 2350 148th St., South Surrey. No flowers please, donations to Children's Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society in Eleanore's name would be appreciated.
