Elsie Irene (nee Millham) McKenzie

October 31, 2005

Born March 5th, 1902, in Hazelcliffe, Northwest Territories, died peacefully on Monday, October 31st, 2005.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband Frazer Douglas McKenzie (Mac) in 1967 and her daughter Fay Irene Morrison.

Elsie is survived by her daughter Carol Williams (Verne); four grandchildren, Joy Gregorash (Bob), Shelley Williams, Bill Williams (Melody) & Michael Morrison (Janice); four great-grandchildren, Erin & Holly Gregorash and Carter & Tenille Morrison.

Elsie was one of six children raised on a homestead in southern Saskatchewan.

In 1928 Elsie married Frazer McKenzie and in 1939 the family moved to Vancouver.

Elsie was an avid curler.

She was a charter member of the Vancouver Curling Club and at one time was the President of the BC Ladies Curling Association.

For her 90th birthday she was presented with a Life Membership to the BCLCA.

In 1967 Elsie's rink, known as the "Canadian Grannies", won the prestigious Johnny Walker Gold Plate in Aviemore, Scotland.

Elsie continued to travel and curl until 1992.

She was well known through the curling community for her love of the game.

She will be well remembered by her many friends and family.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Victory Memorial Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28th Avenue, Surrey,
