Eva Clara (nee Lawrance) Hart

January 2, 2003

Loving mother and wife passed away January 2, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her first husband Charlie Lett, her father Harry, mother Eva, stepmother Bertha, her 2 brothers Alex and Cecil, 4 stepbrothers Len, Harry & Percy Rooksby, George Gibson, and stepsister Dora. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her two daughters, Sharon Wright (husband Al) of Edmonton, and Stephanie Lett (partner Bing Yee) of Vancouver; her second husband John M. Hart of White Rock; her very special friends Bill & Hilda Hagan, Mabel Klingsell, Lil Morin, Vera Reynolds, Marilyn & Stan Nickel, Wendy Barth, Edie Clarke and Tom Mears; as well by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Eva was born on December 1, 1919 in Sedgewick, Alberta, moved to the Peace River Country in 1928 where her family homesteaded. Except for a brief period when she moved to Edmonton, Grande Prairie was her home. In 1984, Eva and Charlie retired to White Rock. She remained in the area following Charlie's passing and after some three years of widowhood she, in 1989, remarried.

Throughout her 83 years, Eva demonstrated a passion for living. This enthusiasm was evident in everything she tackled. Her career was as multifaceted as the woman herself - over the years she was a farmer, a logger, a camp cook, a chambermaid, a seamstress, a retail clerk, a buyer and a partsman. Her pursuits did not stop there. Besides being a very involved parent to her girls and a surrogate mother to many others, she was actively involved in charity work. Her community service included Al-Anon, the I.O.D.E., the hospital auxiliary, as well as, in her later years, many hours dedicated to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Her family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff and management at Heritage Home in Ladner, where she spent her final days. Through their compassion and caring she was able to die with the same dignity and poise that she had lived her life.

I lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delta Hospice Society, Box 18036, Tsawwassen Postal Outlet, Delta, B.C. V4L 2M4 or to a charity of your choice. A gathering for friends and relatives to celebrate a life well lived is planned for a later date.

Mom, you will live in our hearts forever.
