August 28, 1927 - September 8, 2022
George Breaks, 95, of White Rock, passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2022.
George was born on Aug. 28, 1927, to Fred and Eva Breaks in New Westminster, B.C. He farmed with his brothers, Bill, and Jack in the 1940's, then the trio started Breaks Bros. Construction, a land clearing and earth-moving company. They grew and completed many projects, large and small, in the Lower Mainland including the donated land-clearing of the Peace Arch Hospital site. The company disbanded in the mid-sixties and George kept one bulldozer while getting into farming on his property in the Hazelmere Valley.
In 1949 George married the love of his life, Blanche Gobin, of Cloverdale. They raised a family of five in Hazelmere Valley. George loved B.C., farming, trips to Europe and Reno and his family. He was a hard worker, had a great sense of humour and was as easy-going as they get. He will be deeply missed.
George is survived by his five children, Gary (Sharon), Ken (Sue), Kelly (Juanita), Debbie, Richard (Loni), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Evergreen Baptist Care Home where George spent the final years of his life.
