October 19, 1926 - June 16, 2018
Jean Caroline Lyall (nee Mastine), aged 91, passed away in her home in White Rock BC on Saturday, June 16, 2018. She was born in Paisley, Scotland on October 19, 1926 to George Russell Mastine and Agnes (Nutley) Mastine.

Jean lived in Quebec most of her life attending nursing school in Montreal and marrying Traill Brais Lyall in 1948 at Dennison's Mills. Together they raised six children (one with disabilities) in the eastern townships. Once most of the children were older she worked as an LPN in Sherbrooke. In 1971 she took an adventure tour across Canada to Vancouver with 5 of the children in an old 1960 Ford, topped with a big wheel trike for the youngest and eventually ended up in White Rock.

Jean was an active member in the community working and later volunteering and interviewing local artists. Her main focus in life was always the welfare of her children. She was an immensely curious, strong, practical, creative woman who loved wee children, writing, philosophy, dancing, art, gardening, Greek food, and listening to classical music at full volume. She became well known in her later years as, rain or shine, she toured east beach White Rock with her red walker 2-3 times a day. She built strong bonds with locals, stopping to chat with children and neighbours and waving to people in buildings as she passed.

Jean is survived by daughters Lucinda, Stephanie, Joan, Suzanne (Clifford), son Jim, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grand children and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Traill, daughter Lise Marcella and brothers Bruce and Gordon Mastine.

Special thanks to the EMTs who attended at our mother's bedside for their considerate care in her dying moments.

Her "magical mystery tour" has ended but her spirit lives on. . .

Celebration of Life TBA.
