It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of our dear Mother Jean Kilpatrick.
Born in Unity, Saskatchewan 102 years ago she came to B.C. with her loving husband Lorne to live in Dawson Creek to help with the war effort and where in 1943 her sweet boy Gordon was born. Moving back and forth from the farm is Sask. to work in B.C. became too arduous by 1948 so their permanent home was established in White Rock.
During the flood of 48 all the women folk in the area took it upon themselves to contribute to the hospital effort and the Senattes Knitters Group was created to help raise funds. Jean was an entrepreneur and forward thinker and so Jeanettes Fashions and The Diner and Restaurant were just a couple of her ventures.
Working together to get ahead she and Lorne established their place, along with his abilities as a builder/contractor and his brother Clifford.
One of their great passions over the yeas was their purchase of cabin and property at Osprey Lake in 1972. Many days was spent fishing and enjoying family.
Her wit and sense of humour will be missed by their many friends and extended family.
Daughters-in-law, Grandsons, and Great Grandsons will forever benefit from decision to buy "The Lake" property, still much enjoyed today.
Her passing on October 26, 2020 was sudden and peaceful and many thanks to all the hands and hearts that cared for Jean at Morgan Place Care Home where she resided her last years. Peace Arch Hospital too benefited greatly from Jeans volunteer help over her 55 years of service.
She will be reunited with her beloved Lorne and his extended family presently. Gone but not forgotten. We will miss you Mum.
